An overview of International Student Admissions

Admissions of international students are centralized for all the constituent institutes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) and are routed through the Symbiosis Center for International Education (SCIE). The admission procedure for foreign students is designed considering the requirements and the challenges faced by international students. The online admission procedure has made it accessible to every student to apply from different parts of the world and in the comfort of their homes. The student is required to come to India only on receiving the offer letter and acceptance of the offer. The software has been tailor-made to suit the admission procedure. Through the online admissions system, students are not only able to check their admission status but also make all their payments online.

"SCIE earmarks 20%." of the total intake of the respective program for international students which include, Foreign Nationals (FN), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) Card Holders, and Non-Resident Indians (NRI).

Student Categories

1. Foreign National (FN):

A Foreign National shall mean citizens of all countries other than India, who are not of Indian origin as defined under the expression OCI. Such Foreign Nationals are eligible to apply as Foreign Nationals.

Provided that any subsequent changes in the definition as may be notified by the Govt. of India shall have the same latest meaning respectively assigned to them. The other expressions not defined herein shall have the meaning as may be assigned any subsequent notification of Govt. of India.

2. Non Resident Indian (NRI):

A student is eligible to apply as a Non Resident Indian (NRI) if he/she is an Indian National and has appeared for the 12th examination (equivalent to the Indian 12th) or Graduation outside India. It is mandatory for one of the two qualifying examinations to be given outside India.

3. Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI):

A student is eligible to apply as an Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) if he/she has a OCI card, and is a citizen of a country other than India

Online Admission Process

Fill up the online application carefully without missing any detail.

The candidate should upload the soft copy of the following documents:

Note: While applying candidate may not have their final result or the semester wise or year wise transcripts of the qualifying examination, in this case the candidate should submit the same immediately after declaration. If the marks sheets of the qualifying examination are not submitted within the stipulated date, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) cannot be held responsible for the lost opportunity to study or future career.

For OCI Students:

For FN Students:

Note: After making a payment by choosing desired payment mode, please make sure that you update the same by logging in with your SCIE ID in the ‘Make Payment’ option. If you pay cash at bank then you will have to submit the copy of Pay-in-Slip at SCIE office or if you choose to make Swift transfer then you will have to submit a scanned copy of your transaction receipt to SCIE.
Application fee and IELA fee is non-refundable. SCIE will process your application only after confirmation of payment. FEES REMITTED MUST BE EXCLUSIVE OF BANK CHARGES.

When online application reaches SCIE along with the payment of Application fee and all the required documents, SCIE will verify uploaded documents and check the requisite qualifications for admission. Application will be forwarded to the Admission Committee for Evaluation.

The Admission Committee will shortlist the applications based on the following criteria:

A final verification of original documents will be done at the time of joining.

Please Note: Foreign National students will pay the application fee along with the administrative fee after the receipt of pre offer letter.

Admission is based on merit (refer below table as per category) and the Eligibility Norms. The Admissions Committee will carefully review the application and the supporting documents. If shortlisted, candidate will be invited for further evaluation. There are three possible outcomes for your application: offer, waitlist, regret letter. Students on waitlist will receive an email from SCIE with reference to their status after declaration of merit list.

After evaluation by Admission Committee, SCIE will send an email informing the candidate about the status of admission. The email will consist of any of the following status depending on evaluations done on the application.

SCIE will issue a “Provisional Admission Letter” only to the foreign national students who require the Student Visa. This letter is issued only after receipt of administrative and part payment of annual academic fee. Applicant can use this letter as a supporting document while applying for his/her students’ visa at the Indian Mission in his/her country.

The Visa should be student’s Visa and should mention the name of “Symbiosis International (Deemed University)”. Any other type of visa is invalid and final admission will not be granted to students who do not have a valid visa. For the interview at the Indian Embassy make sure that you carry relevant documents to prove how you intend to finance your education in India.

On confirmation of the receipt of administrative fee and part payment of academic fee, applicant will be considered as ‘Provisionally Admitted’ to Symbiosis International (Deemed University). Subsequently, SCIE will send the letter regarding the formalities to be completed at the time of reporting.

The student provisionally admitted to Pune campus have to report to SCIE and the student provisionally admitted to out of Pune campus will have to report to their respective institutes on the dates mentioned in the prospectus to complete the reporting formalities.

Kindly check the respective institute information in the prospectus or SCIE website for specific reporting date to SCIE and the respective institute.

International students will have to undergo a medical examination. Medical check-up will be conducted at Symbiosis Centre for Health Care (SCHC) within the Campus. Collect the Medical Test Form for Medical Check-up. After undergoing medical test submit the counterfoil of the Medical Test form.

The clearance of the Eligibility is an essential factor for admission to any program of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) (SIU). The admission will be provisional till the clearance of the same. The student is liable to fill the online Eligibility form and submit all the necessary documents mentioned above as per the category. Pending documents which were not submitted at the time of reporting must reach Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE) by 31st August. Students who fail to submit the documents within the stipulated date will not be allowed to appear for the semester I examination. They may have to forfeit the academic fee and may lose an academic year or face cancellation of admission (as per SIU rules)

Submission & Verification of all the required documents with originals The students are advised to carry all original documents along with 2 sets of self-attested photocopies.
Documents required from Foreign Nationals/ OCI:

Please ensure you carry all original documents for verification including passport.
